Imperial Theatre 100th Anniversary Art Exhibit
Group Exhibition, Imperial Theatre, Saint John, NB
September 3 - November 25, 2013 The Imperial Theatre is well-known as a stunning venue for the performing arts, with its ornate interior design and revitalized architecture. For a group show as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations, I wanted to showcase its exterior and focus more on its role as a landmark in Uptown Saint John. To accomplish this, I created Enter Stage Left, a “streetscape” comprised of 20 photos digitally stitched together, then printed as a matte laminate gallery float wrap. It incorporates and emphasizes both the beautiful exterior architectural features and the lush green of the adjacent King’s Square, using warm, rich colours and textures, and choosing to capture the scene at an alternative time of day (at sunrise, and not early evening as seen by most audience members). |
